Team Teach

  • Are there pupils in your school who staff are supporting as they display challenging behaviour?
  • Are these pupils finding it difficult to access learning?
  • Are you looking for ways to support these pupils?

Team Teach training can help!

With an emphasis on de-escalation, our training supports participants to see beyond the behaviour to find ways to support pupils who are in crisis. Team Teach provides a holistic view on behaviour, enabling staff to reflect on the purpose of the behaviour and offer a wealth of strategies to de-escalate.  It also supports staff in understanding when they may need to physically support pupils, what the law says about this and safe, effective and humane ways to do so.

All of our Team Teach sessions are delivered by an experienced and accredited senior Team Teach Tutor who has extensive experience working in the field of special educational needs. With this in mind, you will also receive many other tips and strategies throughout the course of the day all of which are tried, tested and effective.

Introducing Deb Stegall, Our Team Teach Tutor

After initially training for and working in a mainstream junior school, Deb became a SENDCo, found her ‘light’ and moved into the special sector.  She worked in special schools (primary and all age) for nearly 20 years, with 14 years in leadership roles and in her last role was as a head of school at a primary special school.  Deb feels very privileged to have been able to work with some fabulous children, families and professionals and thrives on collective potential.  She now works independently, valuing and facilitating opportunities to collaborate, share good practice and collectively develop provision for some of the most vulnerable young people in society.  Firmly believing everyone has something to offer and no-one (including young people and practitioners) should be isolated, she is excited to work with the Cadmus team and be able to contribute to inclusion, in every sense.

In addition to formal study and extensive experience rooted in SEND, Deb is also a Senior Team Teach tutor.  As something which made a real difference to her practice, she is an advocate for this approach as she feels very aligned with the importance of putting the young person at the heart of everything.  She is more than happy to have conversations about how this approach could help; please do get in touch if you would like more information.
